Safety glazing within 24" of a door edge
IRC R308.4.2Description
Glazing within 24" of a door's vertical edge AND ≤60" above the floor must be safety glazing (the so-called "hazardous location").
Why this exists
Doors swing into people; nearby glass becomes a laceration hazard. The 24"/60" zone captures the strike risk.
