IRC R301.2.2Description
Buildings in Seismic Design Categories C, D₀, D₁, and D₂ must follow seismic provisions: shear walls, anchorage, hold-downs, and load-path continuity.
Why this exists
Earthquake forces can collapse code-minimum-but-non-seismic construction. Map-based SDC drives detailing intensity.
