HUD FHA Design Manual Requirement 7 (Chapter Seven)

Description

Dwelling units must contain usable kitchens and bathrooms such that an individual who uses a wheelchair can maneuver about the space. Minimum clear floor space of 30x48 inches at each fixture/appliance. A 60-inch turning circle (or T-turn equivalent) must be available within the bathroom and kitchen for adaptable units.

Why this exists

FHA-compliant kitchen + bath clearance. Type A units require permanent compliance; Type B units allow adaptable design that can be modified at occupant request.
