Staircase as a Stage

Pattern 133

Description

Position the main staircase so it's visible from a public room (living, family). The stair is one of the most expressive elements of residential architecture; hiding it behind a wall wastes its visual potential.

Why this exists

Visible stairs become a sculptural anchor; hidden stairs are mere circulation.
