Seating clearance behind dining seats
NKBA Kitchen 7Description
Behind dining counter / island seating, clearance to the next obstruction should be ≥36" for edging-past, ≥44" for walking-past.
Why this exists
Common kitchen-island design failure: seats are placed but no path is left behind them. The two clearance bands tell the designer which to budget.
