Cooking surface ventilation
NKBA Kitchen 19Description
Cooking surfaces require mechanical ventilation rated ≥150 cfm exhausted to outside air, with make-up air provision per IRC where exhaust >400 cfm.
Why this exists
Cooking emits PM2.5 and NOx that harm indoor air quality; the IAQ literature consistently identifies cooking exhaust as the biggest residential contributor.
